The 13-day joint exercise at Fort Sill in the United States, which ended on Sunday, involved 170 soldiers from the 23rd Battalion Singapore Artillery and US Army units. The exercise, code-named Daring Warrior, was held from 10 to 21 November.
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has tested the latest addition to its artillery weaponry, the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). The HIMARS can engage targets 70km away, move at a top speed of 94km per hour, and "shoot and scoot" in under 20 seconds, ensuring crew and equipment survivability.
Training in the US allows the SAF to build up its operational capabilities and readiness, and facilitates the sharing of professional knowledge among soldiers of the two armies.
